Next Commerce Accelerator is starting its program in Hamburg

After a successful beginning phase of the Next Commerce Accelerator of the Haspa and the HSH Nordbank, the management will now take over the reins. From the 1st of July Alexander Fromm (CEO) and Christoph Schepan (COO) will coach selected start-ups in the context of the accelerator program, introduce them to potential business clients and support them in finding follow-on funding.

For many years Alexander Fromm was active in the RTL Media Group where he was responsible for the construction and expansion of digital business models. Since 2010 he has been active as an entrepreneur and investor. In this role, he has invested in numerous E-Commerce startups as well as supported them in their build-up and helped them with follow-on funding. Christoph Schepan is a company consultant and software developer. He has consulted for international E-Commerce companies such as Airbnb, Wundercar, Flio, and 9flats to support them with their technology, product and M&A needs.

Andreas Mansfeld, authorized representative of the Haspa, and Patrick Miljes, head of corporate customers of the HSH Nordbank, who together built up the NCA for their clients, agree: “We are delighted that with Alexander Fromm and Christoph Schepan we have found two personalities who have complementary skills and who have substantial experience in guiding E-Commerce startups to success.”

The NCA is looking for start-ups with trade-related business models that have already created an initial product or service and that have strong technological competencies. Besides classical E-Commerce businesses, the NCA is especially interested in business ideas and models from the adjacent segments of services, advertising and technology.

„The strong interest and engagement of our investors, partners and mentors such as Edeka, Otto, Montblanc, Google, Amazon and Facebook, as well as interest and engagement from already established internet companies will attract highly motivated founding teams from across Europe to Hamburg. From here we will help expand their businesses further and ensure that they will be attractive for follow-on financing”, says Alexander Fromm.

In the context of the 6-month accelerator program, the NCA is offering teams a customized accelerator program with the active support of the experienced NCA management team, the approximately 200 mentors and the carefully selected partners as well as an attractive working environment in the “hot spot” betahaus in the Schanzenviertel. Particularly helpful is the NCA access to potential clients which offer start-ups the opportunity to test their products on the market. Subsequent to the program, further value is offered through the alumni program. Furthermore, the NCA offers funding of up to 50.000 Euro in exchange for a maximum of 10% equity.

Interested teams can still apply for our program in Hamburg on our website ( until the 15th of August.
